Mastodon's ninth full-length album, HUSHED AND GRIM, comes out on October 29, 2021 through Reprise Records. It's a 2CD edition of a record the band made at home, working with producer David Bottrill [Tool, Rush, Muse, Peter Gabriel] at the board.
Fifteen tracks in all, and they roam: rock, psychedelia, punk, metal, alternative and prog, held together by the four players' instinct for trading parts off each other. A thread of loss, loneliness and longing runs through the three voices too — the album is the band's farewell to their late manager and friend Nick John, and his memory shaped it throughout.
