Harold Prince has spent six decades shaping the American musical, and the record books back it up: 21 Tony Awards, more than any other director or producer. Prince of Broadway gathers that career into one evening of theatre, and this cast recording captures the whole ride.
Expect numbers drawn from West Side Story, Fiddler on the Roof, Cabaret, Evita, Company, Follies, A Little Night Music, Sweeney Todd and The Phantom of the Opera, among others. It plays as a tribute to a Broadway career with few equals.
The stage production had a book by two-time Tony nominee David Thompson (Chicago), co-direction and choreography by five-time Tony winner Susan Stroman (The Producers), and direction by Prince himself. Three-time Tony winner Jason Robert Brown (The Bridges of Madison County) wrote new songs for it.
On the recording you'll hear Chuck Cooper, Janet Dacal, Bryonha Marie Parham, Emily Skinner, Brandon Uranowitz, Kaley Ann Voorhees, Michael Xavier, Tony Yazbeck and Karen Ziemba.
