Back in 2002, Regina Spektor was writing faster than she could keep track. Songs piled up, and some slipped her mind completely. Her friend Joe Mendelson spotted the gaps and offered to archive everything she'd written that year.
She recorded dozens of songs in single takes. Twelve of them became this album. Among the tracks are the original versions of "Samson" and "Ne Me Quitte Pas", which were later re-recorded for Begin to Hope and What We Saw From The Cheap Seats.
These early recordings now arrive remastered by Bob Ludwig, timed to their 22nd birthday. Until now the album was only playable inside a handmade CD-R. This release comes via streaming, CD and vinyl.
