Nine tracks, no words, a full story anyway. In Between Thoughts…A New World carries the listener through plot turns, emotional arcs and real dramatic tension using guitar alone.
Rodrigo swaps his acoustic for an electric here, a sharp break from the duo's usual sound, and the pair fold in analog synths, Mellotron and other electronic instruments to push the energy further. Gabriela's percussive strumming still anchors everything while Rodrigo's lead lines run fast and intricate.
Recording stretched across continents. James Monti mixed the album, Greg Calbi mastered it, and the duo worked remotely with Vienna-based composer Adam Ilyas Kuruc and The Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra, whose strings and percussion fill out the serpentine arrangements.
