Finding Wildflowers (Alternate Versions) brings together more Tom Petty music, put together with help from his family, bandmates and collaborators. It lands on April 16 through Warner Records. These tracks first appeared on the limited-edition Super Deluxe 9-LP version of 2020's Wildflowers & All The Rest, and now they come to limited edition gold vinyl for TomPetty.com and indie retail, plus CD. A black vinyl release follows on May 7.
Across Finding Wildflowers (Alternate Versions) you get 16 studio recordings: alternate takes, long cuts and jam versions of Wildflowers songs, captured as Tom, the band members and co-producer Rick Rubin worked to finish the album in 1994. For fans, it's a deeper look into how Wildflowers was written and recorded, and a step toward the full vision of the project as Tom had always intended.
Tom's longtime engineer and co-producer Ryan Ulyate produced the collection. He went through 245 reels of 24-track tape, which surfaced the evolutionary process of Tom and his collaborators and showed a group willing to do whatever it took to find the essence and magic in the material.
